Interview with our Modeling teacher Elena Moisi

1) Tell us about yourself. Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in this career?
Well… One of my biggest dreams has always been to become a model and participate in beauty contests. At some point while I was growing up, I decided to stay focused in school and my future professional rehabilitation. My goal was to study biology, a plan that changed when I realized that this was not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Until the age of 18 I had never been involved with any modeling agency; this is when I decided to participate in a beauty contest just for the experience. I am really proud to say that I won the second title, without any modeling experience, contrary to all the other participants. I have always wanted to be a modeling instructor and that’s why I worked hard to achieve it. Three years later, I participated in Star Cyprus, the biggest beauty contest we have in Cyprus; this was the starting point of my professional modeling career. So I can say that my experience as a professional model is just a year! Now, the reason why I am interested in this career, is because teaching is something very productive for me. Sharing my knowledge and experience makes me very happy, because I know that this will help young girls move a step closer to their dream of becoming models, which reminds me of myself at a younger age. At the same time, working as a model, helps me express myself in happiness or even sadness, as well forget while I am focused on my photo shoots etc. I have provided you with some background information about my upbringing and attendance in fashion modeling courses. Finally, I would like to emphasize on the fact that I really love what I do and will give my all in order to share as well as widen my knowledge and experience in my field of interest. My advice to anyone reading this would be to stay focused and work with passion; I believe this is the secret of every successful career.

2) Why do you think you are fit to be a model?
My personal point of view of what modeling is differs from the common perception. I believe that every girl can become a model as long as she believes that they can be successful in this career, and as long as she will be brave enough to face all the difficulties that come with this career. Most of the people believe that being a model is easy, but is not. I do not believe that being model is directly related to anorexia at the same time. I am not very fit, i have my curves, as a sexy and attractive girl should have. My type of body gives me so much self confidence which is reflected in my photos, my real life, the way I talk around my friends. So being model for me requires a lot of self confidence, passion, and most importantly being different. There are so many beautiful girls out there. For some people you are gorgeous for some others you may be just a common girl. If you believe, and if you find ways to show to them that you are different, you can be successful. Not only in modeling, but in every kind of career.

3) What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progress in this field?
My goals as a model is first of all to be decent in what I do in this job. I would like to grow my modeling family even more, and to have more and more students that want to learn. I plan to sent some of my work abroad, and my next goal is to be a model for an online store in London. My passion is photo shoots and this as well as teaching others how to do this is what really makes me feel full. I don’t want to talk for the future, I have learnt to set one goal, achieve it and then move to the next one. So I don’t know what’s next for me. For now I’m just focused on my modeling school, and want to make it one of the best modeling schools in Cyprus.

4) Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym?
First of all, I am a chocolate lover (laughs). I used to eat nutritiously but always with good measures. I have limits in my life; of course I avoid eating fast food, fried food and lots of sweets, but I don’t like to oppress myself by not eating something I crave. But everything in good measures. I am a pilates lover, something I am used to do two or three times a week. I don’t go to the gym, because I believe that pilates helps me keep my body in very good shape. I don’t like to see women with abs and a very exercised body. I am the kind of girl who believes that women should stay feminine in every possible way.

5) What do you hope to accomplish at our modelling agency?
What I wanted to achieve in this Modelling school from when I first started teaching was to give all the knowledge that I would want someone else to give me when I was younger. I know what “I want to become a model” means, and this Modelling school offers everything that I was looking for while growing up. I want to give my everything with this agency, something I believe is very important; this way, I want to create the platform for every girl that wants to become a professional model to find ways to do so.
